Arif Bahaduri
Artist member since 2023
ProToronto, Ontario
Arif Bahaduri (b. 1992, Afghanistan) began his artistic journey in 2007, studying in a private art program in Kabul. Since then, he has developed a multidisciplinary practice, working across mixed media, painting, and performance to explore emotion, meaning, and personal narrative.
In 2013, Bahaduri was recognized as one of the top ten finalists for the Afghan Contemporary Art Prize, an experience that marked a significant step in his engagement with contemporary art. His work reflects an ongoing exploration of material, texture, and expression, often combining watercolor, pencil colour, Rotring pen, and gold leaf on handmade or watercolor paper. Bahaduri has participated in both solo and group exhibitions in Canada and internationally, and has completed an artist residency that further expanded his artistic perspective. His practice continues to evolve through experimentation and a deep interest in the expressive potential of line and surface.
